With #BerlinFashionWeek AND #InternationaleGrüneWoche, there’s so much going on in Berlin this week that it’s proving hard to decide which events to prioritize here at the public link #LaunchAcademy! However, one event that I’m glad I didn’t miss out on was the Sleek Magazine launch party for Volkwagen’s latest perfume, ‘Mémoire de Pétrole’.
Ever innovative, Volkswagen recently brought out a new range of electronically powered cars – the e-up! (German: das e-Auto). These cars are highly efficient, suitable for daily use and with a fuel consumption of just 0.9L/ 100km, they are also the most fuel-efficient cars in the world – their plug-in hybrid system means they can travel 50km without using a single drop of fuel.
However, Volkswagen have been in the business a long time. They are aware that driving is an experience that affects all the senses and although environmental friendliness is extremely important, as car people they also understand that the feel, sound and smell of driving a well-designed petrol car is not something that can necessarily be recreated by electronic means. Therefore, having already paid close attention to how these vehicles feel and sound, Volkswagen turned their attention to the last sense that would be notably missing from the e-up! : the smell.
Mémoire de Pétrole is the latest perfume by the automobile powerhouse, created as an accompaniment to the e-up! The name means ‘memory of petrol’ and the scent is intended to remind its wearers of the smell and ambiance of being in a petrol-powered car. Zesty and sweet with underlying hints of – indeed – fuel, this perfume transports you instantly back to the driver’s seat.
Thanks must also be given to Sleek Magazine for putting on such a wonderful and well-suited event for the launch, as well as to the janinebeangallery for hosting. As always, Instagram and Facebook are being constantly updated with news and activity from the #LaunchAcademy, so be sure to check them out!
