#LaunchAcademy – The Kreuzberg Buyers Club

A few weeks ago, the Berlin art and fashion scene was lit up by the arrival of #BerlinFashionWeek and as a #LaunchAcademy intern, I was lucky enough to attend several of the exciting events going on throughout the city. One that I found particularly interesting was an evening put on by The Kreuzberg Buyers Club, a group I hadn’t previously heard of.

The Kreuzberg Buyers Club is a small collection of independent designers based in Berlin, who ordinarily showcase and sell their goods in the various and plentiful markets around Berlin. However, during the winter this becomes naturally less effective and more strenuous due to the cold weather – fewer people are likely to go outside to a market when they could easily go shopping in a store, and sitting out in the cold is unpleasant for the designers too! So as a solution, these artists and designers clubbed together to rent and maintain a concept store just in-between Kreuzberg and Neukölln, forming the Kreuzberg Buyers Club. All together the club is made up of four street-style labels: Discover Prints, PUKIZO, RetroGloves & Talisman Schmuck.

Discover Prints:

Described as ‘the collector man’, Uwe Berger specialises in collecting genuine antique prints and lithographs of all shapes and sizes. The aim behind Discover Prints is ‘to provide a constant stream of all the beautiful antique prints we love’.

RetroGloves:

Orginially from Poland, Anna created RetroGloves to bring a bit of polish winter elegance to the streets of Berlin. Real, quality leather and lambskin gloves in a variety of styles and colours.

PUKIZO:

PUKIZO was formed in 2010 by artist Anna Zejmo. Her work is focused on Indian ink illustrations, which are then transferred to the computer to be finished and printed on clothing. Her inspiration lies with daily life and the uniqueness of human beings.

Tasliman Schmuck:

Talisman is a joint venture between two former graphic design students called Tasja and Lisa, who, while both studying in Munich, decided to forego their studies and do what they were truly passionate about – making jewellery.

The fun thing about this idea is not simply the combination and cooperation between these exciting creative people, but also the store itself! In the summer it’s a ice cream shop, so a lot of the Kreuzberg Buyers Club products are displayed in these huge classic ice cream fridges – crazy! You can check the place out for the last time this winter tonight at their Finale Sale Party and don’t forget to stay up to date with our #LaunchAcademy social media channels – like Instagram and Facebook.
