Engineers for Australia

Informative event to attract German engineers to the State of Victoria is a roaring success, thanks to social media marketing, online relations and press work.

All around the world, the technical expertise and outstanding training of German engineers is highly regarded. The State of Victoria in Australia’s south west is also desperately seeking experienced technical staff in a variety of industries. Last week candidates happy to emigrate had the chance to obtain information about the living, working and immigration conditions in “down under” first hand at an informative seminar in Frankfurt am Main – the response was enormous. Over 500 engineers indicated their interest in employment the other end of the world via a questionnaire form on the Government of Victoria website and around 200 candidates took part in the event.

Victoria, in the south western part of the country, has a population of around 5.5 million in an area of 227,000 km² (two-thirds the size of Germany) and is both the smallest and the most densely populated of the Australian states. After the state capital city of Melbourne, with a population of around 3.7 million and the second largest city in Australia, other larger towns in the state are Geelong (pop. 154,150), Ballarat (pop. 80,330) and Bendigo (pop. 75,857). With the benefit of a coastline of 1800 km a lifestyle beside the ocean is just as important here as in the rest of Australia. Victoria’s economy has one of the best foundations in the world.
